Every One

In this moment

Every

one

in my life
loves me,

with the possible
exception
of the

only one

I believed
in this moment
I most wanted
it to be.

At any given moment, I’ve always wanted love from someone. A friend, my mom, my Dad, my husband, a boyfriend. This piece speaks to how, sometimes, no matter how many other people I may feel loved by, sometimes I’m unable to get the love from that “only one” I believe I most want it to be in that moment.

Sometimes, what we think we want the most, is not what we need.
So, the other things we get, are not appreciated until the fullness of time.
And that is sometimes too late.

I’m sure that the Rolling Stones song is appropriate. “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”.

Rick, that is a TOTALLY appropriate song! I think I’ll look it up on YouTube and give it a listen. 🙂

I’m still thinking about what you said, Rick. That’s just about exactly what’s happened in my life. A friend of mine said something brilliant to me lately that I haven’t finished processing or writing about…as I go through and make the changes on my way to where I believe I want to go, I’ve left behind things that aren’t working. I realize they’re not working because I’m not getting back what I need from what I give.

She said “You’re picking up pieces.” She meant I’m picking out things from each situation that work and don’t work, leaving behind the ones that don’t, and moving forward appreciating what did. I’m developing a very strong view of exactly what I want, and I’ve gained courage to settle for nothing less by lifting the weight of all those pieces, or pushing away the ones that don’t work.

And you’re right….I DO always get what I need…which is sometimes an amplified lesson in what DOESN’T work. 🙂
