I Can’t Do This Alone

I thought I’d do anything
to be happy with you,
rather than being Alone.

What I really want, though,
is just to be happy,

and there’s nothing
I can do Alone
to be happy with you.

  1. Paul Carroll says:

Siege , I don’t know who this person was, but I hope they are in your past…

and that you get past them.

  2. Steve says:

    Someone’s missing out!

  3. Morine says:

Sacrifices made to “be happy” with someone are one-sided acts of desperation, mostly to avoid being Alone.
It sounds like you’ve deduced that it takes both parties working together to be happy; one person carrying all the weight doesn’t work. You want — you deserve — to be happy. It’s just not going to happen with “him.” You will find happiness. Give it time; I think you’re still grieving. xo
