I’m Not Broken

I'm Not BrokenDon’t try to fix me, I am not broken.

I’m a barnacle on a boat, shaped by the storms I’ve weathered and the surfaces I’ve attached myself to for survival.

My shape, inside and out, suits me exactly as it should.

And as I continue my journey through the winds and the waves, under the sun and the stars, I will continue to change, until I breathe no more.

But I am not broken, so don’t try to fix me.

How we should remind ourselves of this. Hearkens to William’s relationship advice to Ben Damon’s character in Goodwill Hunting, “The question isn’t are you perfect, but are you perfect for each other.” I love this permission to be flawed and yet still lovable, perhaps even adored.

Ah, I’ve said this in a relationship before…No, you’re not perfect…but you ARE perfect for me. 🙂

I love it when you in particular read what I write. I’d love to connect soon. Very soon. Too much time has gone by.
