Lingered

Lingered (cj 2012.06.23)
*********
My fingers
lingered
when we
shook hands
or was it yours
that stayed behind
whispering softly
an extra moment
as they gently
pulled away
saying goodbye
and nice to meet
each other.

I liked that you
asked about my life
and talked to me
like I was real
like I mattered
in your day.

My smile has
lingered too.
Has yours?

Your words are heavy with feeling. I love what you’ve done here; it’s as if it was you and me!
